About Saint Louis de Montfort

Saint Louis de Montfort was born in Brittany, France, in 1673 and developed a profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary during his youth. After studying for the priesthood, he was ordained in 1700 and dedicated himself to preaching missions throughout France. He traveled from village to village, encouraging repentance, frequent reception of the Sacraments, and devotion to the Holy Rosary. Despite poverty, opposition, and many hardships, he remained steadfast in his mission to bring souls closer to Our Lord through His Blessed Mother.

Saint Louis became especially known for his teachings on total consecration to Jesus through Mary, beautifully explained in his celebrated work True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He also wrote The Secret of the Rosary and helped establish religious communities devoted to missionary work and Christian instruction. He died in 1716 while preaching a mission at Saint-Laurent-sur-SĆØvre. His life reminds Catholic families that sincere devotion to Our Lady leads to greater holiness, deeper prayer, and more faithful service to Jesus Christ.
