About Saint Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel holds a place of great honor in Sacred Scripture and Catholic tradition as the defender of God’s people and leader of the heavenly host. In the Book of Revelation, he leads the faithful angels in battle against Satan and his followers, casting them out of Heaven. His name, meaning “Who is like God?”, proclaims the supreme majesty of the Creator. Saint Michael is also mentioned in the Book of Daniel as a protector of God’s people and in the Epistle of Saint Jude in connection with his opposition to the devil.

Throughout the centuries, Catholics have invoked Saint Michael’s intercession for protection against temptation, spiritual danger, and the attacks of evil spirits. Pope Leo XIII composed the famous Prayer to Saint Michael, calling upon him to defend the faithful in battle against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Traditionally honored as the guardian of the Church and a protector of souls, Saint Michael reminds Catholic families of the reality of spiritual warfare and the importance of remaining steadfast in faith, prayer, and obedience to God. His example inspires courage, humility, and complete trust in the power of Our Lord.
