About Saint Luke the Evangelist

Saint Luke the Evangelist was born, according to ancient tradition, in Antioch and became a skilled physician before dedicating his life to spreading the Gospel. As a faithful companion of Saint Paul, he accompanied the Apostle on missionary journeys and remained loyal to him through hardship and imprisonment. Inspired by the Holy Ghost, Saint Luke wrote the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, preserving the teachings, miracles, and divine mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ, along with the early history of His Church.

Saint Luke’s Gospel contains precious accounts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, including the Annunciation, Visitation, and Nativity of Our Lord. Tradition also associates him with painting images of Our Lady, although this cannot be historically confirmed. After years devoted to evangelization, he died in the first century. His life reminds Catholic families of the importance of knowing Sacred Scripture, remaining faithful through suffering, and proclaiming Christ through both words and deeds.
